5 Reasons to Eat More Raw Foods

With the amount of health information flying around these days on social media, it’s easy to get caught up in the mess and forget how to best manage your diet FOR YOU.

Some people will tell you that food is medicine and you are what you eat, but the important thing to know is that you have to choose a diet and eating plan that suits your tastes, your body, and your budget, too. If there is one thing that you should do – no matter the eating plan that you choose – it’s to eat more raw foods.

Actively adding more raw foods to your eating plan is a positive thing to do for your health. Raw food is any food that hasn’t been cooked to a certain temperature, so things like seeds, nuts, raw unfiltered honey and fruit and veggies are all up on the top of the chain.

Some raw foodies out there add unpasteurized dairy and small amounts of raw fish or meat into their diets, too. The idea behind is that some people believe that cooking food to high levels can lead to a range of illnesses, but as we know, raw foods are not a cure for anything – and they also won’t 100% prevent diseases from developing.

Food is not medicine, but food can make you feel more energized and happier on the inside. So, we’ve got five reasons that you should be eating raw foods.

Improving digestion.

Raw foods can help your system to get moving. You won’t find any detoxification going on because of certain foods, but you will find that your body will produce the right enzymes to help you to digest your food a little better.

Raw nuts and seeds as well as certain fruit and veggies will help you to digest your food better and you gain more life in yourself in the process. Keeping your bowels moving is important for your comfort, and raw foods can help you to do just that.

Unlock your energy.

Peak energy levels often happen to us after we consume high fat and sugar foods, but you want to think about raw foods here and how they can make you feel more energetic. Raw veggies are wonderful for boosting your energy levels, feeding your metabolism, and giving your brain a boost. Vegetables and fruits are packed with vitamins and minerals that give you an energy boost!

Better Balance.

When you focus on eating more raw food in your diet, you are going to be focusing better on packing your diet with more balance. You don’t have to be extreme and eat ONLY raw foods if you don’t want to, but adding more of them to your diet is never going to be a bad thing. Balance your snacks in your diet with raw fruits and veggies with peanut butter or other dips, and you can gain a good balance of all food types!

Better Nutrition.

In some cases, cooking food too much can rob it of its natural nutritional value. You can avoid that with some raw foods added to avoid cooking food that is highly sensitive to heat. There are certain foods that are naturally packed with Vitamin C that will do better as raw items, like oranges, apples, kiwi, and kale.

Weight Loss.

Are you looking to lose weight? Raw foods are very low in caloric value and foods like nuts and seeds are higher in calories but also packed with healthy fats. Eating raw foods will keep you fuller for longer and you can lose weight as a result. If this is your aim with your body, you’re onto a winner.
