Neglecting our health as we get older is something a lot of us tend to do. We get busy, and there is always an excuse as to why. But we only get the one body, so in order to live a long and healthy life, you need to look after it. Here are four signs that you need to take care of your health.
Your Skin Looks Dull
Whatever we’re putting into our bodies, it shows on the outside. So for example, not drinking enough water or a bad diet is going to directly impact the appearance of your skin. Considering it’s the largest organ of your body, it’s important that you are paying attention to its needs. Some of us will have better skin than others, but we can all suffer if we don’t take enough care. Try giving your body at least a liter of water per day so that your skin can perform at it’s best and flush out the bad toxins.
Sleep Is Disrupted
Never underestimate the power of what sleep can give you to both your body and mind. Sleep is the body’s way of recovering after the day’s antics and more importantly, repairing itself. When it comes to the number of hours needed, everyone is different. Some may be able to function fully after just five hours, where most will likely need seven to eight hours of rest. A sign that you’re not at your best is if your sleep is disrupted. Perhaps you are waking up quite a lot in the night or don’t feel energized after waking up.
In this case, you might want to try reducing your caffeine intake, no mobile phones before bed and getting your bedroom as dark as possible.

You Are Sick More Often
When your health is suffering, your body is fighting to keep up the motions, and too much can mean you get sick more often. There’s also more of a risk of injuring yourself due to lack of concentration, and no one wants to have to get a personal injury lawyer. You may not notice it at first but if you are calling in sick more often at work, then it might be something that’s underlying, and it’s worth changing your lifestyle habits to see if it’s anything within your daily life that’s making you sick.
Feeling Run Down Constantly
That feeling of exhaustion and feeling defeated is normally feeling ‘run down’. We all have a habit of some point at overworking ourselves whether that’s in the workplace or with our social lives. It’s important to say no instead of yes to everything. Burning the candle at both ends is not going to do any good for your health or state of mind. Getting enough sleep might help with this feeling but if you’re working too hard, then it’ll end up just being a constant cycle that you can’t get yourself out of.
Taking care of your health should be a priority, so think about whether your health is at it’s fullest or whether you need to recognize some of these signs for yourself.
