Is Pain In Your Hands Making It Difficult To Work?

There is no denying that one thing no blogger wants to experience is a pain in their hands. It can keep you from writing, editing and even just being on social media. Being able to use your hands is essential when you make your living writing. With that being said, in this blog post, we are going to take a look at the different types of hand pain people can experience.

Tendon injuries

If you are experiencing pain in your hand, there is a very high chance that you could be suffering from a tendon injury. There are several different tendon injuries patients can suffer from, with symptoms varying dramatically as well, which highlights why it is so important to use the services of an experienced and qualified physiotherapist so that they can accurately diagnose the problem and put together the most effective treatment plan. You certainly cannot afford to cut corners when it comes to something as important as your health.

Tendonitis is one of the most common tendon injuries people experience in their hands, and this is inflammation of the tendon, whereas tenosynovitis is another common injury, which is inflammation of the synovium – the sheath that surrounds the tendon to ensure easy, smooth and painless movement.

Another tendon injury is tendinosis, which is chronic degeneration of the tendon, yet there is no inflammation. This simply scratches the surface of the different hand injuries you could be suffering from, which can make it very confusing, especially as the names are so similar.

Ligament injuries

Ligaments play a vital role in the hand, as they are the tissues around the joints, helping to prevent excess movement, maximize strength and stabilize the joint, and so when ligaments are damaged not only can it be very painful but it can be extremely detrimental to normal function as well, which is why it is so important to use the services of a physiotherapist as quickly as possible so the problem does not intensify. Some people also turn to edibles in order to help with the pain as well.

Ligament injuries are very common, especially hand ligament injuries, and this is because they are regularly used and they are very exposed. A lot of ligament injuries are caused because of overuse or because too much strain has been placed on the ligaments while others are caused as the result of a traumatic injury. Symptoms vary, but patients tend to suffer from pain, swelling and the inability to move their hand easily.

Getting treatment

If either sound familiar, book an appointment with one of the available specialist physiotherapists to ensure a quick and effective recovery. Your first appointment will always begin with a thorough examination of your hand, which is imperative because an accurate diagnosis is essential if an effective treatment plan is to be put together, this is especially the case when you consider the fact that there are so many different types of ligament injuries that can occur and there is a broad spectrum of severity.

Once they have accurately diagnosed the problem, they will then put together an efficient course of treatment, and they will explain to you what the process entails and how long they expect the recovery to take. The techniques they will use to get you back to your best include soft tissue massage, dry needling, electrotherapy, joint mobilization, ice or heat application, flexibility exercises, strengthening exercises and more.
