We live in a busy and modern world and life just keeps happening around us. And before we know it, ten years have passed and we’re not too sure what has happened in that time. Life can feel a lot like a routine of just sleep, wake up, work. And repeat.
It is a daily grind that can have you burning out the next time the alarm goes off in the morning. But there is more to life than work. And in all of that, how can you make sure that you are getting a healthy dose of self-care and ‘me time?’ Here are some things that you can do to help yourself, so that you’re able to enjoy life to the fullest and not burn out because of all of the things that you need to do.

Set specific time slots
Focusing on your work can be a great excuse for not being able to take care of yourself. It can be easy to justify being busy for not eating well or not exercising. Which is why setting some specific time slots when you’re not working can be a good idea and a good way to plan out your time. These could be time slots like before 8 am, for example, and after dinner, from 7 pm perhaps. These time slots can then be kept just for you or for specific things like time with a partner, family, exercise, or what else you want to do.
Start your day with meditation
It can sound a little ‘hippy-dippy’ and you might feel like meditation isn’t for you. But it can be whatever works for you. You could start your day with being still and taking deep breaths, it could be in prayer, or it could be doing something like yoga. It is all about having five minutes to yourself, to be by yourself, and to plan things out in your mind such as how your day will go and so on. It can also be something that can help you to feel more positive, energetic and happy.
Have regular checks to stay healthy
There are regular checks that we all need to be having as we get older, particularly as women. There are things like cervical screening test, mammograms, eye tests, and making sure that you look into hearing care and hearing checks too. These things can all become problematic as we age, and if left, then they really can have an impact on our overall health. So make sure that you do have regular checks to stay healthy.
Keep a journal
Life for all of us is very busy. And if you have a lot of things going on in your mind and things that you have to do, then it can feel overwhelming and could lead to things like mental health issues. So something like a journal can be a good idea to help to get the thoughts out on paper, and can help to relieve your mind of all that is going on.
