The Orchid Throne Book Review and Giveaway

A PRISONER OF FATE

As Queen of the island kingdom of Calanthe, Euthalia will do anything to keep her people free—and her secrets safe—from the mad tyrant who rules the mainland. Guided by a magic ring of her father’s, Lia plays the political game with the cronies the emperor sends to her island. In her heart, she knows that it’s up to her to save herself from her fate as the emperor’s bride. But in her dreams, she sees a man, one with the power to build a better world—a man whose spirit is as strong, and whose passion is as fierce as her own…

A PRINCE AMONG MEN

Conrí, former Crown Prince of Oriel, has built an army to overthrow the emperor. But he needs the fabled Abiding Ring to succeed. The ring that Euthalia holds so dear to her heart. When the two banished rulers meet face to face, neither can deny the flames of rebellion that flicker in their eyes—nor the fires of desire that draw them together. But in this broken world of shattered kingdoms, can they ever really trust each other? Can their fiery alliance defeat the shadows of evil that threaten to engulf their hearts and souls?

My Review of The Orchid Throne

Disclosure: I received a copy of the ebook to review from St. Martin’s Publishing Group. All thoughts and opinions in the following review are my own unless otherwise stated.

I love a good fantasy and this book delivers. The orchid Throne is a novel full of fighting, intrigue, despair and a bit of lust as well. I really enjoyed the story of Conri and Euthalia. The characters are well thought out and have an amazing depth to them that I’m sure we have only just touched on in this novel.

I am new to the author Jeffee Kennedy but I think I have found a new favorite author. The book is an epic story that has both grand war scenes and political intrigue. I found myself wrapped up in the story and the different feelings of the main characters. I also loved how these feeling and thoughts evolved throughout the book.

The characters of Conri and Euthalia are intriguing on their own. Conri as a former prince turned slave due to the actions of a tyrant who took over his kingdom and made everyone his slaves. Conri is ready to take on this tyrant and will do anything to accomplish it.

Euthalia, on the other hand, has had little say in her future, she is engaged to the same tyrant who has now become the Emporer. This engagement was a plan to save their kingdom by her father who has since passed on. She has figured out many ways to keep this man at bay but time is running out.

This is a romance so you know something romantic needs to happen, however, I didn’t feel this book was an epic romance. It was semi-romantic, but all in a good way. I love when a story includes romance but makes it more real. I do recommend this book for anyone who loves a good epic story that’s filled with action a bit of romance and a little uncertainty.

  1. I would keep this book for myself. After I am done reading it, I am sure my daughters will snatch it up to read as well.
