The new year is almost here and that means so is the new color of the year. Pantone announced the 2019 color of the year as Living Coral. I’m not normally a fan of this type of color, but I do love the shade Pantone picked this year. It will be a color you can use all year long to decorate your home. I’m sure you are wondering how you can use Living Coral in your home decorating.

Living Coral is a color that will go with almost anything and it will really liven up your home décor. From throw pillows to artwork and furniture you will have many options to bring this color into your home décor. Here are a few ideas to get you started with using this amazing color.

I really love the first image and how the color stands out. Grey goes with anything and adding a nice pop of coral to a room can help liven it up. If you really like the color of the year you can add in accent chairs as well. For yearly trends like these though I usually recommend just adding pillows and accessories so you don’t waste your money. The exception is if it’s your favorite color, Then stock up on everything you can.

Use Pillows to bring Living Coral into your room

Living Coral Pillows

Throw Pillows are really the best way to add this color to your décor. They are inexpensive and add a great touch to any room. The best part is you will find pillows in this color everywhere. You don’t have to keep your pillows to just your sofa either.

Here are a few unique places to put your pillows

  • Bookshelves
  • Coffee table- if there are shelves
  • Side Table-if there is a shelf
  • Guest room dresser drawers- keep the drawers out and stage the pillows inside.
  • Console or buffet table- this is a great way to add a pop of color to a dining room or entry.

Other Ways to Add Living Coral to your home decor

Paint

Use living Coral on an accent wall. This color is very bold and for most people would not work well on every wall, but making it an accent wall is a great way to bring this color into your home without making a major commitment to it. It’s also a great way to see if you actually like the color. Try it in one room then make the decision to move it to another.

When you paint the wall remember to live with it for a few days before you decide you want to paint other places. Paint changes color based on the light, sunlight makes it brighter and indoor lighting can make it look darker.

Other accents

Lamps, rugs, and accent pieces are also a great way to bring Living Coral into your home. Bringing in small touches of this cute color is a great way to show it off in your home, without a huge commitment.

Adding Curtains in Living Coral can make a great statement for a low cost as well. Curtains can really add warmth to a room and this color will help with that. Curtains are also a bit easier than paint to add to a room so this is a great way to add a large splash of color to your room without a huge commitment.

When it comes to bold colors like this one I always recommend starting small. It’s a chance for most people and adding a pop of color with accents could be the perfect way to bring this year’s color trends into your home.

  1. I am such a big fan of coral! I love this guide so much <3 I will definitely save this for inspiration!

  2. Oh I love the look! Coral is so bold but soothing too. I noticed it gives almost a beachy vibe – especially if mixed with turqoise!

  3. I had that thought too. I’m thinking I will be adding this color to my current grey and turquoise decor for spring/summer

  4. I adore coral 😍 I was so happy when Pantone announced it as the color for 2019, but to my great disappointment, I’ve seen surprisingly little of it in stores. Perhaps Finland is too conservative for such a bold color? I’m a pillow freak, so they are my go-to with trends and accents, but for bigger items I prefer neutrals – and then spice things up with color!

  5. I am the same way. I use pillows and accents when I want to update my look, but my big furniture is neutral. Currently, I have a grey sofa with teal pillows.
