Summer has officially ended and we are well on our way into the autumn and winter seasons, which means more rainy days and more time spent inside. But no need to despair, this is the perfect time of year to try out some new indoor activities that will keep you entertained on those dreary days. To give you some inspiration for when the next rainy day arrives, here are 5 indoor activities:
Go climbing
When you think of climbing you may picture rocks, mountains and the great outdoors, but did you know that there’s a thriving indoor climbing community too? From big wall climbing to bouldering there are climbing centers around the country dedicated to providing an all-round space for people to climb. If you’re not keen on heights then give bouldering a try, you remain lower to the ground and no equipment is required. For those looking to go higher than find a gym with auto-belay machines or take a belaying class with your friends. Climbing is a great full-body workout so you’ll be getting fit whilst having fun.
Take a pottery class
Rainy days are the perfect opportunity to learn a new craft or skill such as pottery, keeping you out of the rain and letting you come away with something you’ve made with your own fair hands. Working with clay is great sensory fun for all ages and who knows it may be your new favorite hobby? If pottery isn’t your jam then find an area that you are interested in, such as sewing, painting, life drawing or maybe something completely different. Try out an escape room
Stay dry and give your brain a workout by visiting an escape room. Escape rooms are a perfect group activity and an immersive experience that’s really quite addictive. A rainy day is a great excuse to get in the kitchen and whip up something delicious. If you’re at home then crack out a new recipe book and give something a little different a try, make use of this time to go for something you wouldn’t normally attempt.
