Weddings are supposed to be big affairs where loads of people get together, and you put on a spectacle. So, for someone interested in simple living, how do you plan a wedding? You don’t want it to be a huge event, you don’t need it to be over-the-top, but can you put on a simple wedding?
The answer is yes! It’s more than possible to plan a simple wedding that still lives long in the memory of your guests. Often, it’s the simple things in life that make you happy, and this means your wedding could be a lot better than one with all the glitz and the glamour. On that note, here’s how you plan your delightfully simple wedding:
Follow a very simple theme
There’s no need for the theme of your wedding to be something crazy and outlandish. Too many people get inspiration from holiday weddings, which is why most of these events are getting bigger and crazier. For me, it’s all about keeping things nice and simple. Use plain colors that go well with one another, and ensure that everything fits with these things.
You can see some great wedding invites from Pure Invitation that can be used to give you some inspiration on color schemes and different themes. Mainly, you’re looking at soft and loving colors, mixed with a few subtle details and patterns – the theme doesn’t need to be any crazier than that.

Keep the guest list small
The reason most weddings are massive events is that people love inviting everyone they know to their big day. The logic behind this is quite nice; you want to share this special day with as many people as possible.
However, you don’t need a huge list of guests to have a wonderful time. Limit your guest list to close friends and family – at least in the beginning. If you find that this gives you a decent number of guests, then that’s where you end. If you realize you need to invite a few more people, then open it up to wider family members as well.

Have the reception and ceremony in the same place
I recently went to a lovely little wedding that held the ceremony and reception in the same place. It was at a delightful hotel, and they had a wedding room that was turned into a small church-like area for the ceremony, then cleared away and turned into a room for the reception. It’s a brilliant idea if you want to keep things as simple as possible.
Now, you don’t have to worry about finding the perfect ceremony location, finding the best place for a reception, then organizing the drive between places. It removes lots of stress from the wedding planning process, and you’ll still get married in a gorgeous setting.
At the end of the day, your wedding day will always be memorable if you’re surrounded by the people you care about the most. Fireworks, massive chandeliers, and loads of needless extras won’t make the day any more special. Keep it simple, keep it classy, and create a memory that lasts forever.
