Take Control In 2020

As we settle into the new year, how are those resolutions going for you? For many of us, the resolutions have all fallen by the wayside by now, as they are so often unrealistic and not necessary. We are far more likely to stick to the goals that we feel are attainable and are going to make a real difference to our lives, so today we are sharing a few of those with you to help you to take control in 2020.

Take control of your finances

This is always a good place to start as so many of us worry over money. Whether you know you need to make a few cutbacks or you just cannot figure out how to increase your savings, taking control of your finances should always be a priority.

Start by working through your recent bank statements. You are looking for any outgoings that should be canceled, you are looking to see where your spending goes to work out whether you can cut back on them and you are looking at your regular bills.

You might spot that you grab a couple of coffees each day and that by taking your own to work saves you money every month, or you might see that you are still paying for a magazine subscription that you barely even read. Take a close look at those regular bills and see if you can reduce them by switching suppliers.

From this point onwards, make it a habit to check your statements monthly like this, set yourself up with a savings account and keep a spending log as all will help you to take control.

Take control of your relationships

There is nothing more empowering than being surrounded by a great group of loyal and trusted friends. You know that they have your back and you can have fun and relax in their company. This year, seek to spend more time with these people by making more of an effort to make plans and get together.

On the other hand, seek to cut out any toxic friendships as they are harming your self-esteem and confidence and you do not need these people taking up your time.

If you feel that your relationship is failing to make you happy and you are no longer comfortable within your marriage or partnership, then this is something that you are going to need to address this year. Start talking things through together and seek counseling if you need it. If you are not sure where you stand legally, then do seek expert advice from companies such as www.browndahan.com

Take control of your health

We are always so busy that our health is rarely prioritized. Yet we know that we should look after ourselves, body and mind, so make this the year that you take control of your health

Start with simple things, such as drinking enough water each day, getting plenty of sleep and eating well even when you are time poor

You can then build in regular exercise, and this need not be a huge commitment. You could walk to work, take the dog out more often or try a yoga session.

Make time for yourself to rest and unwind for your wellbeing, and you could try hobbies such as journaling to support your mental health.
